Why this route, and why with us

This is the shortest hut route we sell and a good first one. The paths are well marked mountain paths, grade E, with no exposed sections, and the longest day is four and a half hours.

The Tre Cime are the busiest corner of the Dolomites in summer, so we plan the week around the crowds. Two nights at Locatelli mean you start the circuit while the toll road is still closed, and the valley nights in Sesto give you a private bathroom at each end.

When the weather turns

Afternoon storms are common in July and August. Every day here ends by early afternoon, and the descent from Comici can be done on a forest road if the path is wet.

Included

  • 3 nights in huts with dinner and breakfast
  • 2 nights in a hotel in Sesto
  • Transfers from Venice and back, and to Val Fiscalina
  • Route notes, offline maps, GPX files
  • Daily forecast check with a planner

Not included

Flights, lunches and drinks at huts (budget €30 a day), travel insurance with mountain rescue cover, tourist tax paid locally.

Where you sleep

Locatelli and Comici are large, busy huts with bunk rooms of four to ten and a few private rooms, which we ask for first. In Sesto you stay in a family-run hotel with a sauna.

Questions about this route

Yes. It is the one we suggest most often to people who walk regularly but have not slept in a mountain hut. The days are short and there are two nights in a hotel.

At midday, around the Tre Cime, yes. The plan puts you on the circuit before the day visitors and away from it by the time they arrive.

From about ten, if they walk four hours happily. Locatelli has family rooms; tell us ages and we will ask for one.

Not to the huts. Your main bag stays at the hotel in Sesto, which keeps it for the three hut nights.
