How we work

A small team of planners in Ortisei who only sell the Dolomites, and would rather tell you to wait for September than sell you August.

Why only one range?

Most travel companies sell the whole Alps. We sell nine mountain groups between Bolzano and Belluno, because that’s what we can know properly: which huts have private rooms, which passes hold snow into July, which guardian makes the best canederli.

That knowledge is what you’re paying for. Every route we sell has been walked by one of us in the last two seasons, and every hut on it has been slept in.

  • One planner from first call to the walk back down.
  • Prices that show what’s included and what isn’t.
  • A phone number that answers from 7am in summer.

We walk it first

Each spring we re-walk the routes that changed over winter: landslides, closed huts, new lifts. Your route notes say what we found, with the date we found it.

The range in numbers

18peaks above 3,000 m, the highest the Marmolada at 3,343 m
9mountain groups in the UNESCO World Heritage site
1,200km of linked ski runs on one Dolomiti Superski pass
3languages on the signs: Italian, German and Ladin
“Give me the forecast and the hut’s number, and I’ll get you over any pass in this range or tell you why not today.”
Luca Runggaldier, head of planning

Who you'll deal with

Your planner

Builds the route with you, books every bed, sends the notes, and checks the forecast with you each evening of the trip.

Mountain guides

Qualified guides from the valleys for every via ferrata and any day you'd rather not navigate. We work with the same few each year.

Hut guardians

The people who run the rifugi. We've known most of them for years, which is how private rooms appear in August.
