Why this route, and why with us

The Alpe di Siusi, Seiser Alm in German, is the largest high-altitude meadow in Europe, about 56 square kilometers between 1,700 and 2,300 m. In winter the road is closed to most cars, so it is quiet once the day skiers have gone.

This is a week for people who want snow without skiing. Snowshoeing on the meadow is walking with wider feet; if you can walk four hours in summer, you can do it. A local guide leads the two longer days and lends you the snowshoes and poles.

When the weather turns

In heavy snow or fog the guide keeps to marked winter paths near the inn. On a clear cold day the plan can swap to make the most of it.

Included

  • 4 nights at a small mountain inn with dinner and breakfast
  • Sauna and the inn’s outdoor hot tub
  • Snowshoe guide for two days, snowshoes and poles
  • Cable car tickets
  • Transfers from Bolzano and back

Not included

Flights or trains to Bolzano, lunches at mountain huts, travel insurance, tourist tax paid locally.

Where you stay

A wooden inn of eight rooms, run by the same family since the 1970s. Rooms have their own bathrooms, and the sauna is heated with wood from the valley.
