Sella Ronda: clockwise or anticlockwise?

The ski circuit around the Sella group runs both ways. Which one suits you depends on how you like your day.

The Sella Ronda is a ski circuit around the Sella massif, crossing four passes and linking four valleys: Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Arabba and Val di Fassa. You can ski it in a day on one Dolomiti Superski pass, in either direction.

Clockwise is signed in orange, anticlockwise in green. The signs are everywhere, so navigation is easy. The real difference is in the mix of lifts and runs.

How the two directions differ

  • Clockwise (orange) is often described as having more varied runs and suits confident intermediate skiers.
  • Anticlockwise (green) is often described as gentler, with more time on lifts.
  • Both cross the Gardena, Campolongo, Pordoi and Sella passes.

Whichever way you go, start early. Be on the first lift out of your valley and keep moving: the lifts stop in the late afternoon, and missing the last one on the far side of a pass means a long taxi ride home.

Your planner sends you the current lift closing times for your week, and we mark the point on the circuit where you should turn back if you are running late.

Midweek in January and March is quieter than the holiday weeks. If you can choose, choose then.
